The Wastewater Needs Assessment (WWNA) is a four-year contract to assess the human right to sanitation and wastewater infrastructure needs of Californians.
Applications for the statewide WWNA Advisory Group are DUE February 29, 2024.
What is the WWNA Advisory Group?
The Advisory Group will advise the WWNA project team developing a statewide assessment for Californians’ equal and human right to sanitation and safe wastewater management and critical wastewater infrastructure needs. The WWNA Advisory Group participants will advise project development and the project team throughout the four-year (2023-2027) contract on:
- Wastewater data and information,
- Draft analyses,
- Effective outreach methods, and
- Other areas of expertise or perspectives.
The Advisory Group does not have additional authorities or final decision-making power.
Who can apply to the WWNA Advisory Group?
The WWNA Advisory Group is open, but not limited to:
- Members of the public,
- Advocacy groups,
- Community groups,
- Tribes and tribal organizations,
- Local representatives or government agencies,
- Regional or statewide regulatory agencies, or
- Federal organizations or agencies.
Interested individuals or organizations must submit a free application using the Advisory Group Application link.
What do I need to know before I apply?
The Advisory Group time commitment is required for participation but is intermittent and temporary (up to three years). Please read the Advisory Group General Expectations/ Information link.
The Advisory Group is limited to 30 participants. We encourage entities or groups to submit one application for their entity, agency, or group.
Advisory Group participants must adhere to General Expectations – Member Responsibilities, Procedural Rules, and Meeting Protocol to participate in the WWNA Advisory Group as outlined in the Advisory Group General Expectations/ Information link.
Advisory Group outcomes will be presented as information items in public Water Board meetings. Please subscribe to our WWNA Bulletin / Email Subscription List to know when the State Water Board will meet and present WWNA items/ information.
Will there be pay or compensation?
There is limited compensation available for tribal or community-based organization participants.
