NEWS RELEASE: City Manager Announces Key Management Appointment

Trish Raver to serve as Walnut Creek Human Resources Director

The City of Walnut Creek has a new Director of Human Resources, effective January 23, 2023. City Manager Dan Buckshi announced the hiring of Trish Raver to serve in one of the City’s leadership roles, overseeing the office that manages recruitment, hiring, training, benefits, labor relations and other employee issues.

Raver comes to Walnut Creek from the City of Emeryville, where she has served as Director of Human Resources for the past three years.  Her previous human resources leadership positions were held in Livermore and Orinda.

“This is a critical position as we look at City staffing needs with the easing of the pandemic,” said Buckshi. “Trish brings the experience, leadership and vision needed to focus our human resources priorities on organizational effectiveness as well as recruitment. Walnut Creek has long been able to attract and retain talented staff, and I’m looking forward to seeing the initiatives she will bring to the table as we move forward.”

Raver earned her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in Communications, with a minor in Statistics, and a master’s degree in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. She holds a certification in Strategic Human Resources Leadership from Cornell University and is certified by the Society of Human Resources Management as a Professional in Human Resources.

“I’m looking forward to joining the Walnut Creek team, where I believe my personal values are well aligned with the values of the organization,” said Raver. “I’m excited to be leading the professional staff in the Human Resources Department, and working collaboratively with others in the City, as well as being a partner to enhance Walnut Creek’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.”
