West Downtown Specific Plan on Council Agenda Tonight

The Walnut Creek City Council will hold a public hearing this evening on the updated draft of the West Downtown Specific Plan.  The plan, last updated in 2014, is intended to guide the transformation of the area into a transit-oriented development district over the next 20-25 years.  The area would include higher density housing, and additional office, retail, service and hotel capacity.  The Council meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. this evening, and will be held in the 3rd floor conference room, as the Council chamber is undergoing renovation.

Walking, biking, driving or hopping on BART - there are many means of transportation we use in Walnut Creek.  The City is taking a look at traffic patterns and ways to reduce congestion in the years ahead, and will be developing a transportation strategic plan we're calling "Rethinking Mobility."  Stop by our information table at tomorrow evening's "First Wednesday" event along Cypress Street from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., and find out more about this important project.

Your Parks, Your Future:  community kickoff October 3

Your Parks, Your Future

The City is launching a major effort to update the long term plans for Heath Farm Park, Civic Park, the community centers at those locations, Clarke Swim Center and Shadelands Arts Center.  We will be engaging the community often during the project, and invite you to a Community Open House and Pizza Party in Civic Park on Wednesday, October 3, where we will share the goals and timeline.  Find more information on our "Your Parks, Your Future" webpage, and register online for updates on this very important effort.
