Victorville Connect - December 12, 2024 |
|
|
This week, we had an incredible time celebrating the ribbon cutting of our new Animal Care & Adoption Center! Thanks to a lease with the Victor Valley Union High School District, the new center is located at 16648 E St. and will open on Dec. 13.
It is the first-ever, permanent animal care and adoption center operated by the City of Victorville. The City will use this center not only to house and care for animals, but also to serve community members, host vaccine, microchip and licensing events, pet adoptions, and education fairs.
We look forward to all the benefits this new, larger facility will offer to our Victorville community.

SCLA 30th Anniversary
Last week we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of our Southern California Logistics Airport.
SCLA is the largest employment center in the Victor Valley and home to Fortune 500 companies like Boeing and GE Aviation. SCLA is the reason The City of Victorville has emerged as a leader in the aviation, industrial, and manufacturing industries. Following the closure of the former George Air Force Base in 1992, the City has transformed SCLA into an economic engine that drives our local economy while offering 4,500 jobs for our residents.
We are excited to see SCLA continue to evolve and contribute to our economy.

What's the Tea, VV?
We are proud to say that our Victorville Wellness Center has just celebrated its One Year Anniversary. In its first year of operation, over 100 individuals have graduated to permanent housing thanks to the supportive services we provide them at the Center and hundreds of individuals are receiving services on campus.
In this episode of our podcast, we sit down with Deputy City Manager Scott Webb and the two operators who provide services at our Wellness Center to learn about this first of its kind facility and how we’re helping the unsheltered in our community gain stability.
This episode of What's the Tea VV? is available in both video and audio format. Watch the latest episode on YouTube or listen to it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, and other major platforms.
