Pet Safety and Adoption Event
Pet Fostering and Adoptions
Drop by our Animal Care & Control office located at 14206 Amargosa Rd. between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday July 27, to meet pets that we have available to adopt or foster!
We are also offering Victorville residents free pet licensing and microchipping with a valid rabies vaccine.
If you can't make it Saturday, you can also meet available pets at our Animal Care & Control Office, Mon.-Thur. 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. and Fri. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
If you aren't able to adopt, please consider becoming a short- or long-term volunteer foster to give the animals in our care the socialization and attention they need to remain adoptable.
Pet Safety During Hot Temperatures
To keep your pets safe this summer, it is important to keep them cool and comfortable to prevent heat related illnesses. Here are a few tips:
- Never leave your pets in a hot car. Temperatures rise quickly and can result in the death of your pet.
- Keep plenty of fresh water available.
- Know the symptoms of overheating: difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, excessive drooling, weakness, increased body temperature.
- If the floor burns your hand, it can injure your pets' paws.
- If possible, bring pets indoors to cooler temperatures, or provide shelter and plenty of shade if the pet must remain outdoors.
- Keep up to date with licenses and microchip your pets.
Microchipping pets can aid in reuniting lost pets quicker. During hot months it is crucial that you can be contacted quickly in the instance that your pet has been found.
Free Licensing and Microchipping
Our Animal Care & Control staff also offer free pet licensing and microchipping for Victorville residents with a valid rabies vaccine during special monthly events between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at our office on Amargosa Road. This month, join us on July 27.
For more information, please visit vv.city/animalcare or call (760) 955-5089.
