Are you looking to off-load some of your old paperwork, TVs, appliances, mattresses, and more? Take advantage of the Free Shred-Fest, Compost Giveaway, and Recycling Event at the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event will feature drive-through document shredding, a compost giveaway, electronic waste and appliance disposal, and mattress and box spring recycling. All activities are FREE and open to residents of the High Desert. The Victor Valley MRF is located at 17000 Abbey Lane in Victorville, near Stoddard Wells Road.

Pet Adoptions & Fostering
Drop by this weekend to meet the pets we have available for adoption or fostering. This Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., we'll be at The Home Depot located at 15655 Roy Rogers Dr. On Sunday May 5, join us at Charleys Cheesesteaks and Wings located at 17129 Bear Valley Rd. from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
You can also meet pets that are available at our Animal Care & Control office, Mon.-Thur. 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. and Fri. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
If you can’t adopt, please consider becoming a short- or long-term volunteer foster, which will help provide the animals in our care the space, attention, and comfort they need.

Tower Six Graduation
This week, we celebrated the graduates of our Victorville Fire Tower Six Graduation!
For seven weeks, these Victorville Fire recruits were put to the test, and we know they are ready to serve our residents.
We’re grateful for their commitment to serve our growing community.

Victorville Sings!
Victorville Sings auditions are right around the corner! Auditions will be held on May 15 at 5 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center of the High Desert located at 15615 8th St. Youth ages seven to 17 are invited to audition for a chance to compete for the winning title and prizes during our Concerts in the Park Series in June and July.
Register by May 10 for a discounted rate of $5. After May 10, the price will increase to $15.

Farmer Boys Book Club Reading Program
Now through May 31, kids 0-17 are invited to participate in the Farmer Boys Book Club Reading Program! Read five books or 300 minutes to earn FREE food from Farmer Boys! Registration is required.

Kids Club
If you’re looking for fun activities for your children this summer, our Recreation Department is offering Kids Club Summer Camp for kids 6 to 12! This camp will offer a variety of daily games, crafts, learning activities, and water play. Camp begins June 10 and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Doris Davies Park! Registration is $85/week for residents and $90/week for nonresidents.
