Victorville Connect - November 30, 2023 |

Join us for an exclusive guided tour of our brand-new Victorville Wellness Center, a haven of healing and hope for local residents experiencing homelessness.
Explore the state-of-the art facilities designed to promote wellness and help homeless individuals stabilize their lives. Engage with the dedicated staff and learn about the comprehensive services offered.
Help us celebrate this significant milestone in our commitment to the well-being of our community. The Wellness Center is a key component in our strategy to reduce homelessness in the City of Victorville. It’s the first center in California to combine a low-barrier emergency shelter, recuperative care facility, medical clinic, interim housing, and wraparound support services in one facility.
Tours are available Dec. 8 & 9 and should take 30 minutes or less. Space is limited. Visit vv.city/wcopenhouse to register.

Coyote Safety
As the weather cools down, coyotes are becoming more noticeable within our neighborhoods because they are seeking food in preparation for mating season.
To keep coyotes from becoming frequent visitors, we recommend removing food and water sources from the area outside your home or business. This includes bird and squirrel feeders, which can attract small rodents that can be bait for coyotes. Properly securing the lids of your waste bins will prevent trash from overflowing, which may also lure coyotes. If you encounter a coyote, it is important not to run. Instead, ‘haze’ (link pdf for hazing tips) the coyote away.
As a reminder, coyotes are natural habitants in our desert. Our Animal Care and Control team does not trap coyotes.

Organic Waste
Victorville residents with curbside trash and recycling service will receive a barrel to be used for garden trimmings and food scraps. The new, green barrel will be delivered to single-family residences in December. You can begin using the barrel right away and place it on the curb for pick up on your service day the following week. While garden trimmings should be placed loose in the green barrel, food waste should first be placed in plastic bags. The blue barrel continues to be for recyclable material, and the black bin is for trash. More information and tips are available at VictorvilleCA.gov/Recycle or (760) 245-8607.
