Volunteers Needed for Measure P Oversight Committee
We are looking for volunteers to fill three vacancies on our Measure P Oversight Committee. The committee typically meets twice a year to review and certify expenditures of Measure P revenue. The vacant committee seats are for stakeholders representing the clergy, nonprofit/social services, and local major retail. Doris Davies Park has joined Hook Park and Sunset Ridge Park in being a home to one of our eco-friendly smart benches. The Smart Benches offer helpful features including solar powered lights, charging ports, and free wireless internet. Funded through federal dollars, the smart benches increase community access to broadband internet and offer an added amenity for park patrons to enjoy. Now you can stay plugged into the digital world while enjoying the beauty of nature! Brentwood Park is the next park scheduled to receive an eco-friendly smart bench. Free Reusable Propane Cylinder Giveaway
Join us Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Victorville Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center located on Loves Lane behind the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds for our reusable propane cylinder giveaway. To receive a free reusable propane cylinder, residents can bring an empty single-use, one-pound propane cylinder for disposal or sign a pledge to no longer use disposable cylinders. The limit is one per household. This event is sponsored by the Mojave Desert & Mountain Recycling Authority in cooperation with the City of Victorville and the California Product Stewardship Council. Funding is being provided through a grant from CalRecycle, the California Department of Resources and Recycling. For more information, call (760) 955-8615.
