Victorville Connect - March 23, 2023 |
|
Tuesday night, the City Council approved a professional services contract with LPA Inc. to design a new police station that would enable future growth and expansion of the Victorville Police Department. Initial projections are for a police station at least triple the size of the current Victorville Police Station to be located on the vacant land across from City Hall. The design will also incorporate a civic plaza and explore expansion opportunities for the Victorville Fire Department.

Park Improvements Underway
We’re making improvements at Center Street Park and Brentwood Park. We will be installing new restrooms and play structures at both parks. The play structures will be installed in mid-April, and the restrooms will be installed next month. Center Street Park will also receive new ADA bleachers and hi/low drinking fountains this summer.
|
The improvements at Center Street Park are possible through funding from the California Parks & Recreation Society (CPRS) and local B.E.A.R.S. nonprofit while a Prop. 68 Per Capita Grant and additional funding from CPRS are being used to make the improvements at Brentwood Park.

Wellness Center
This month crews competed the installation of 24 community building units at out Wellness Center including recuperative care, laundry facility, kitchen/cafeteria, and office units. It will offer 110 separate modular units with a minimum 170-bed capacity increasing shelter beds by 56 percent while also providing healthcare and other supportive services to help end the cycle of homelessness. The Wellness Center is being funded primarily through a $28 million grant from the State of California.
