Free Dump Day: March 11

Dump your junk for FREE! Dispose of unwanted items at our Free Dump Day March 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the former Victor Valley Jr. High on Forrest Avenue at 8th Street. This event is open to Victorville residents only.

New Arson Investigators & Training Battalion Chief

At this week’s City Council Meeting, four Victorville Fire personnel were sworn in by our City Clerk. Captain James Lanphar of A shift and Captain Timothy Ortiz of C shift were sworn in with additional responsibility as Arson Shift Investigators; Battalion Chief-Deputy Fire Marshal Mike Goth was sworn in as Fire Investigation Unit Supervisor; and we welcomed Bobby Clemmer as he was sworn in as our new Training Battalion Chief. We thank these members of our Fire Department for their service to our community.

Volunteers Needed for Measure P Oversight Committee

We are looking for volunteers to fill three vacancies on our Measure P Oversight Committee. The committee typically meets twice a year to review and certify expenditures of Measure P revenue. The vacant committee seats are for stakeholders representing the clergy, nonprofit/social services, and local major retail. Committee members must be Victorville residents and registered to vote at the time of appointment. Learn more and apply at VictorvilleCA.gov/mpoc.

Community Cleanup Day: April 22

Our next Community Cleanup Day is April 22 and we’re seeking volunteers and sponsors to join us as we work together to keep Victorville clean.

Sponsors are listed on the event t-shirt worn by hundreds of volunteers. They’re also acknowledged in thank you advertisements and on the City’s website and social media.

Volunteers will receive coupons for discounted lunch at local eateries and a FREE t-shirt while supplies last.

Spring Break Crafts for Kids

Need something to do during Spring Break, March 20-24? Stop by the Victorville City Library anytime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a different craft each day. Participation is free for kids 0 -17. For more information, call (760) 245-4222.

March Update from Mayor Jones

In this monthly update, Victorville Mayor Debra Jones shares information about Code Compliance’s important role in improving quality of life for our residents. With the help of Measure P revenue, the City added five code compliance officers last year, which is enabling us to take a more proactive approach to Code Compliance for the benefit of our community.

COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing Information

Effective Feb. 10, SB County moved its COVID-19 testing center at Green Tree Golf Course to the WIC Center located at 15247 11th St., Suite 700. The new site will offer over-the-counter COVID-19 testing kits that can be picked up Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.
