Victorville Connect - December 1, 2022 |
|
We’re one step closer to forming our Community Revitalization Investment Authority (CRIA) for Old Town, the first of its kind in California!
The CRIA would use property tax increment revenue generated in Old Town to fund revitalization improvements like infrastructure, affordable housing, economic development, business assistance, and more!
It’s not a new tax. Instead, the revenue is generated from rising property values.
Last year, we established our CRIA Board, and now we need your input on our Draft Revitalization Plan.

Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting
Our Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting is also on Dec. 3! We hope you’ll join us for this magical event as we light up our brand new tree from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Facility Improvements
With revenue generated by Measure P, infrastructure improvements have been made to four of our community facilities enabling us to improve services for our residents.
Recently, Westwinds Sports Center, Westwinds Activities Center, and Doris Davies Recreation Center were reroofed allowing for an increase in youth and recreation programs.
Additionally, the tennis courts at Sunset Ridge Park were resurfaced and now offer pickleball.
To learn more, visit VictorvilleCA.gov/MeasureP.

Library Kiosk at Sunset Ridge Park
As outlined in our Strategic Plan, Sunset Ridge Park will soon be home to our first library kiosk thanks to revenue generated by Measure P!
The kiosk creates an extension of our Victorville City Library so that we can expand library services for our community.
Residents can checkout books directly at the kiosk and view reading material through the display glass. A Victorville library card will not be required.
Through remote access, City staff will be able to monitor inventory levels so that in-demand genres are available.
We expect the kiosk to make it's debut at Sunset Ridge Park in Summer 2023.
