Victorville Water District Receives Climate Award
We’re proud to announce that our Victorville Water District was awarded the 2021 Climate Impact Award from Enersponse—ranking it among the top ten performing water operators in Southern California! This award recognizes organizations that are committed to managing energy consumption when the electric grid is stressed, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
Last year, our District avoided 36.7 tons of GHG emissions. GHG emissions are known to cause environmental and health problems. Reducing our carbon emissions helps mitigate the impacts of global warming and improves air quality.
We have modified our procedures to ensure that energy intense processes are run during hours that clean, renewable energy sources are available, such as solar. By using renewable energy, we can help reduce energy imports and reduce fossil fuel use, the largest source of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions.
The City of Victorville is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and helping to achieve a decarbonized energy system with energy sources that emit less carbon dioxide.
