Join the Artist: Exhibit and Lecture

Ann Elizabeth Thiermann presents Bay Area Trees: Orchards to Forests,
Woodlands and Shore, currently on exhibit thru April 27, 2026. This body
of work evokes memories of Sunnyvale’s orchards and the beauty of the
Bay Area landscape.

Join the artist for a viewing of the exhibition followed by a round-table
of stories and discussion centered around the Valley of Heart’s Delight.

• Date: Thursday, March 26, 2026
• TIme: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
• Location: Sunnyvale Senior Center, Laurel Room, 550 E. Remington Drive

Rotating Exhibition Spaces Bring Local Artists to Sunnyvale

Through April 27, three walls in Sunnyvale will be home to a series of  8-week art exhibits by regional artists:

• Sunnyvale Senior Center (two walls in main hallway)
• Sunnyvale Main Library (main entry wall)

Sunnyvale has over 200 Public Art pieces throughout the city and we're adding more! A new sculpture has been installed through our Art in Private Development Program. This program requires developers to allocate 2% of their construction costs to public art. Visit the public art page for more information and to view the Public Art Collection.

Help Select Sunnyvale's Public Art

The Public Art Program is looking for jurors to help select the artists and artworks for upcoming projects. Juror responsibilities include:

• Selecting the art location
• Reviewing artist applications
• Selecting a short list of artists to develop conceptual designs

The commitment for each project is 3 to 10 hours. No experience required.

Community Center Grounds Renovation

Community Center Grounds Update

Work is underway on the Community Center Grounds Renovation Project, and there are some exciting public art milestones to share.

• Omaggio a Tempo by Sal Pecoraro has been successfully reinstalled in its new home within the renovated pond, where it will remain a focal point of the refreshed landscape (pictured above).
• In addition, the first phase of artist selection for the project's new public art is complete. Thanks to the work of our public art jury, five semi-finalist artists have been selected and are now developing conceptual designs for review at the April 17 Arts Commission meeting. Congratulations to Sijia Chen Studio, Jeanine Centuori and Russell Rock of UrbanRock Design, James Dinh of Studiofolia, Patricia Vader, and Solomon Bassoff of Faducci.

The fully renovated Community Center grounds is anticipated to open in late summer 2026.
