The popular In-N-Out Cover to Cover club is back in March. Get ready to track your reading and earn delicious rewards!

We will also be celebrating our community connections with out Silicon Valley Reads program, and highlighting our local child care resources at our Child Care Fair. 

Many of our programs this month do not have registration. Space in our programs is still limited, and the doors will close when the program is full.

For programs with registrations, we recommend arriving early. Registrants' spots are only guaranteed until the start of the program.

Cover to Cover Reading Program

The In-N-Out Cover to Cover Reading Program is back! Read and earn award cards for In-N-Out Burger.

Who can join: Ages 4 to 12

How it works

• Sign up for the Cover to Cover Reading Program on Beanstack between March 7 and April 18.
• Log books or reading minutes. Receive an achievement award card for every five books read, or 300 minutes spent reading.
  • 1 hour reading counts as 1 book
• Pick up achievement cards at the Children's Information Desk.
  • One achievement award card given per visit, per child.
  • Up to three award cards given per child during the six-week program.
• Redeem your achievement award card at In-N-Out Burger. Award cards are good for one free hamburger, cheeseburger or grilled cheese sandwich at all In-N-Out Burger locations.

Silicon Valley Reads 2026 - Bridges to Belonging

Silicon Valley Reads is a community engagement program that brings people together through books and a shared annual theme. Each year, from January through March, we offer more than 150 free public events for all ages including author talks, book clubs, arts and music activities, movies, hands-on workshops, and creative experiences inspired by our theme.

In today’s world, the need for connection is more important and more powerful than ever. Our 2026 theme, Bridges to Belonging, explores how we can build bridges... to one another, to our families, and to our communities, to create genuine belonging.

Family Community Gardening

For school-age children and their caregivers Sunday, March 1, 2 to 3 p.m. Charles Street Garden, 433 Charles St. No registration   Come join us at the Charles Street Gardens to learn all about the importance of a community garden!  Children will learn about plants and seeds. They will have an opportunity to plant a seed to take home. Please wear clothing suitable for outdoor activities. Rain cancels this event.

Bridge Building

For grades 1 to 5 Wednesday, March 18, 4 to 5 p.m. Library Program Room No registration   Join us to build a suspension bridge!

Thank You, Neighbor! Storytime and Craft

For grades Pre-K to 5 Monday, March 23, 4 to 5 p.m. Library Program Room No registration   Enjoy this special storytime featuring the book: Thank You, Neighbor by Ruth Chan. The California School for the Deaf will be using American Sign Language as they read the story. Then, make a special card for a neighbor or someone in your community!

Know Your Neighbors

Child Care Fair

The Safe Link Parent Workshop

For parents and caregivers Wednesday, March 18, 7 to 8 p.m. Library Program Room Registration recommended   Each year, over 300 million children face technology-facilitated sexual exploitation, yet many families don’t know how it starts or what to do. In this parent workshop, teen survivor Cynthia Wang shares how sextortion unfolds, key warning signs, prevention strategies, and how to talk with kids openly and without shame.   Please note that this program is for adults only, and is not intended for children.

Holi Rangoli Art

Nowruz Celebration

Kindah Khalidy Wiggly Art

Music and Smiles with Keith Miles

For ages 0 to 5 Monday, March 23, 11 to 11:30 a.m. Library Program Room No registration   Music & Smiles featuring Keith Miles is an educational and interactive concert for kids and adults alike. Keith takes the crowd on an adventure to wondrous lands across farms, into forest, over mountains, and even deep under the sea.   Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library.

Kids Graphic Novel Bookclub

For grades 3 to 7 Wednesday, March 25, 4 to 5 p.m. Library Program Room Registration recommended   Graphic novels rule at our book club! Join us monthly to discuss a fun graphic novel.   This month, we will discuss Dog Man: Big Him Believes by Dav Pilkey. If you don't have a chance to read it, you are still welcome to come and listen or talk about your favorite graphic novel. As a club, feel free to suggest our next read.

Family Movie: Raya and the Last Dragon

Lego Builders

Articulated Grabber

For grades 1 to 5 Wednesday, March 11, 4 to 5 p.m. Library Program Room No registration   Make an articulated grabber and test your design on different objects.

Coding Club

For grades 3 to 6 Thursday, March 26, 4 to 5 p.m. Library Program Room Registration required   Work on fun coding projects in a group setting. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop. A limited number of Chromebooks can be provided by the library if needed.

Baby Sign Language

Baby Playdate Series: Science

Storytimes

Join us for storytime in the Library Program Room! No registration is required, but space is limited. Doors will close when the room is full.

Please note: there will be no storytimes from Feb. 15 through 21.

Storytime at Magical Bridge Playground

Sensory Storytime

For ages 3 to 6 Friday, March 13, 11 to 11:45 a.m. Library Program Room Registration required   Sensory Storytime is a fun interactive and inclusive literacy program. It engages children through movement, music, active stories, sensory materials, and visual schedules. This program is for children with sensory challenges or difficulty being in large groups. This program is limited to 12 participants and their caregivers.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) Storytime

For ages 0 to 5 Friday, March 20, 11 a.m. to noon Library Program Room No registration   Join us for a bilingual (Spanish/English) storytime followed by a craft!   Únase a nosotros para la hora de cuentos bilingüe (español e inglés), seguido por una manualidad!   This program is part of the Silicon Valley Reads 2026 program Bridges to Belonging

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Library Program Room

The Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library is hosting a two-day book sale. Join us in the Library Program Room, where you will find books for children and adults, movies on DVD and Blu-Ray, and music CDs. There will be items in English as well as other languages.

Sunday is a $5 Bag Sale, where you buy a bag for $5 and fill it with what fits. While the Library opens at 1 p.m., the Bag Sale begins at noon. Only the Book Sale will be accessible from noon until the Library opens at 1 p.m.

All sales help sponsor library programs and promote literacy. We accept multiple forms of payment, including cash, checks, credit and debit.

Become a member at the sales. Membership is $10 for individuals per year. Become a Life Member for $200. Membership fees are tax-deductible.

Library of Things Survey

We want to hear from you!

The Children’s Library of Things Collection holds non-traditional items you can borrow with your library card. Items range from programmable robots, storytime kits to educational toys. You can save yourself money and engage your child’s curiosity while providing a range of educational experiences.

We are expanding our collection and would appreciate your input and guidance!
