Press Release: Cold Case Rape Suspect Arrested

SUNNYVALE, California - Shortly before midnight on 3/18/25, Sunnyvale Detectives located and arrested Davis Bryan Vest for a cold case kidnapping and rape committed in Sunnyvale in 2009. Renewed investigation into the unsolved 2009 assault case, identified Vest as the perpetrator. Evidence was compiled and presented to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office. The case was reviewed, and an arrest warrant was issued for 209(b)(1)PC-Kidnapping to Commit a Sexual Offense, and 261(a)(2)PC- Rape by Force, Violence, Duress, Menace, or Fear. Vest has been identified in at least two rapes in Sunnyvale of separate victims from 2007 and 2009.
