In his new book The Chinese Computer: A Global History of the Information Age, Stanford University professor Thomas S. Mullaney explores the many iterations of Chinese language computing technology from the wake of World War II to today. Q&A, book sale and signing to follow. Registration is not required.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a special performance by Ensamble Folclórico Colibrí (EFC)! EFC is a Mexican folklore dance group that promotes pride in LGBTQ Latinx identity through the art of Mexican Folklórico dance. They preserve costumes and tradition through cultural and educational projects, as well as staged performances. This program is for all ages. Registration is not required.

Gifty is a fifth-year candidate in neuroscience at Stanford School of Medicine. Her brother, Nana, was a gifted high school athlete who died of a heroin overdose. Her suicidal mother is living in her bed. Gifty is determined to discover the scientific basis for the suffering she sees all around her. Registration is required.

But at what cost have they acquired their immense fortune? This is the mystery at the center of Bonds, a successful 1937 novel that all of New York seems to have read. Join us for a lightly moderated discussion of death over tea and snacks, led by local end-of-life doulas Ka Yun and Annie. At a Death Café, people—often strangers—gather to discuss death. We invite people in all phases of life to come talk about death and dying in a supportive, unstructured way. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. Join us for a Bird Walk with Interpretive Guides from the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society. There will be a short presentation, followed by a small birding stroll along the New Chicago Marsh Trail at the Alviso Unit of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The trail is ADA Accessible and suitable for anyone with mobility limitations. This event is geared toward all ages but will be most enjoyable for those ages eight and up. Registration is required.

IN-PERSON: Lotería Game Night!

Lotería is a traditional Mexican board game in the style of Bingo. Players match images from a deck of cards to the images on their tabla, or board. The first player to have all the images on their tabla matched wins the round. Winners will receive a prize! Both seasoned Lotería players and beginners are welcome. The game will be presented in English and is adults only. Registration is not required but is encouraged.
