Trees can do it all! Well, almost. Trees do store carbon, reduce urban heat, improve neighborhood safety and make us happier. Join Sunnyvale Urban Forest Advocates as they teach us about Sunnyvale’s urban forest, the role the urban forest plays in our community and what to consider when selecting a tree to plant. Join an optional tree walk after the presentation to visit and learn about some of the trees that comprise our urban forest near the library.

IN-PERSON: Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Cancer Prevention & COVID-19 for People Living with Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join us for a talk by Marcia L. Stefanick, PhD. of Stanford University School of Medicine for a talk on cancer and cancer prevention. The program will cover healthy lifestyle tips, how to screen for cancer and tips for preventing cancer throughout your life. It will also cover the implications of COVID-19 for cancer survivors and for those undergoing cancer treatment.
The program will be introduced by Larry Klein, Mayor of Sunnyvale, who will speak briefly on the City's commitment to spreading awareness on this subject. There will be a short recess during the program as well as time for questions at the end.

IN-PERSON: Halloween Film Series
This month, we invite you to watch four Halloween films with us at the Library! Adults can enjoy Under the Shadow and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Older kids and teens can enjoy Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice.

Is your bike in need of a repair or tune-up? Not sure how to tell if your bike is safe to ride? Bring your bike to the Library!
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Volunteers from Bike Sunnyvale (the local chapter of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition) will also be on site to teach the ABC Quick Check, share safety tips, give our bicycle goodies, and answer any other questions.
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Professional bike mechanic, Ryan Murphy, will be available for advice and help with issues, like changing a tire, adjusting gears/brakes, etc. Assistance from Ryan will be first come, first served.

Learn how to attach a photo to your email, move app icons around on your device, take photos and more.
