Hello, Suisun City!
For the June edition of the Suisun City Scoop, we are excited to highlight Suisun City student Zach Combs, who is helping raise awareness about the effects of graffiti and the role residents can play in keeping our community clean, welcoming and cared for.
As part of his work toward the California State Seal of Civic Engagement, Zach selected graffiti awareness as the focus of his project. His goal is to help residents better understand how graffiti affects neighborhoods, parks, schools, businesses and public spaces, while also encouraging community members to report graffiti quickly so it can be addressed.
Graffiti can create a negative impression of public spaces and, when left unreported, may lead to additional vandalism or community concerns. By reporting graffiti early, residents help City staff respond more effectively and support a cleaner, safer environment for everyone.
Residents can report graffiti located on public property in Suisun City by using the MyCivic app, or emailing PWM@suisun.com. For emergency or after-hours issues, residents may contact Police Dispatch at (707) 421-7373. If graffiti is located on private property, residents should contact Code Enforcement at codeenforcement@suisun.com or call (707) 908-0597.
The City appreciates Zach’s leadership and commitment to civic engagement. His project is a reminder that keeping Suisun City clean and welcoming takes all of us working together.

City Manager's Office
Last month, Suisun City hosted its State of the City Address at the Joseph A. Nelson Community Center. The evening provided an opportunity for community members to hear directly from City leadership about how Suisun has continued to move forward with intention and purpose over the past year.
During the event, attendees and leaders reflected on key milestones achieved and reviewed the exciting upcoming projects that will continue to shape our neighborhoods. Thank you to all who joined us!

Fire Department
Thank you to everyone who joined Fire Chief Brad Lopez and staff this month for the Community Annual Report Presentation. The event provided an update on the Suisun City Fire Department’s services, accomplishments and strategic plan.
To protect the Suisun City community ahead of fire season, the Department has launched its 2026 Vacant Lot Weed Abatement Program. This critical program enhances overall community safety by ensuring lots are cleared of dry grass and debris, and that defensible space is maintained. Please be aware that properties not brought into compliance may be subject to City abatement.

Recreation, Parks and Marina Department
The Recreation, Parks & Marina Department continues to make progress on a number of park improvements and community projects across the City:
– Prosperity Garden: A waterwise demonstration garden was recently established, and a new drinking fountain is currently being installed.
– Montebello Vista Park: Advancing into its final phase of revitalization, with the new synthetic turf on track for an August completion.
– Heritage Park: Installing picnic tables, bleachers and a new solar battery for the picnic pavilion.
The 2026 Summer and Fall Playbook is now available digitally and in print at the Joseph Nelson Community Center (611 Village Drive), serving as a guide to upcoming community programs. The Playbook also features information on the Police Activities League (PAL), senior activities, fitness classes, facility rentals and more.
The Suisun Recreation Preschool celebrated its final graduating class last month, wrapping up a wonderful era of helping local children learn and grow. Local seniors enjoyed an active month with a 110-person Mother's Day Luncheon and a scenic trip to Caymus-Suisun Winery.

Public Works Department
The Public Works Department continues to maintain infrastructure and keep public spaces clean across the City. Recent maintenance efforts include pressure washing the Downtown Plaza area around the lighthouse, removing graffiti on the sound wall along Buena Vista and completing weed abatement along the McCoy Creek Trail walking path and Petersen Road.
Please note the following infrastructure and project updates:
– Enhancements at Heritage Park are substantially complete, featuring the installation of new concrete walking paths, an ADA-compliant curb ramp, picnic tables, bleachers, basketball goals and a mini-pitch system.
– For the 2025 Pavement Resurfacing Project, slurry sealing has been completed on Sunset Avenue, Walters Road and a portion of Blossom Avenue, with permanent thermoplastic pavement striping anticipated in the coming weeks.
– Preparations are officially underway for the 2026 Pavement Resurfacing Project, with the contractor currently submitting necessary project documentation, schedules and traffic control plans.
– The project to install new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at Pintail Drive and Crane Drive for enhanced pedestrian safety is advancing toward a construction contract this July.

Development Services Department
Exciting residential and commercial projects are moving forward under the guidance of the Development Services Department, bringing fresh amenities, housing choices and economic vitality to Suisun City. Here is a look at the latest progress on several developments currently underway:
– Ross is expected to open this summer in the Sunset Shopping Center.
– Dutch Bros has begun construction.
– Seven government-owned properties downtown were recently approved for sale and redevelopment.
– Ned’s Pizza and Wings is now open for business.
