Hello, Suisun City!
For the March edition of the Suisun City Scoop, we are excited to highlight the Public Works Department, which supports City operations by maintaining, upgrading and managing the essential infrastructure that keeps our community safe and running smoothly.
This work is carried out across four specialized divisions: Administration, Engineering, Public Works Maintenance and Public Facilities Maintenance.
Throughout March, the Public Works team has been hard at work on several key projects, including:
-
Upgrading Heritage Park: Construction is well underway on exciting new features, including a pavilion, concrete walking paths, basketball goals and a brand-new mini-pitch system.
-
Enhancing road safety: New raised median islands at key intersections along Walters Road and Railroad Avenue are being installed to improve left-turn safety.
-
Refreshing the Community Center: The facility's banquet room just received a beautiful interior upgrade with brand-new flooring.
-
Going green at the Park N Ride: The City is officially moving forward with plans to bring four new solar-powered EV charging stations to the parking lot.
-
Preparation for smoother roads: We are finalizing contractor bids to bring fresh asphalt and upgraded ADA-compliant curb ramps to Emperor Drive.
-
Keeping Suisun City clean: Our maintenance crews worked hard this month fixing potholes, repairing streetlights, clearing illegal dumping and beautifying landscaping across the city.
The Department would also like to share that the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District is celebrating 75 years of protecting public health and the beautiful Suisun Marsh with a fun, community-centered open house! Residents are invited to connect and learn about the essential work that keeps our local environment thriving on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1010 Chadbourne Rd in Fairfield. Reserve your spot today on Eventbrite.
The Public Works Department remains committed to keeping Suisun City safe, clean and a wonderful place to call home.
Warm regards,
Nouae Vue Public Works Director/City Engineer City of Suisun City

City Manager's Office
As Suisun City continues to explore expansion, we know our residents have many important questions. To ensure our community has access to clear, accurate and up-to-date information, the City has launched an educational video series, #SuisunCityAnswers, to walk you through the details of the project.
You can visit our dedicated Suisun Expansion FAQ webpage to explore a comprehensive list of written FAQs, as well as the first three videos in this series. These initial videos clear up common misconceptions regarding ballot initiatives and voting, dive into the details of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) process and outline the long-term benefits expansion could bring to Suisun City.
This is an ongoing conversation, and we want you to be a part of it! Stay tuned as we release more videos in the coming weeks. You can watch the current videos and catch all future updates by following Suisun City on Facebook and Instagram.

Fire Department
This month, the Suisun City Fire Department has been actively updating the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Working in partnership with Karste Consulting, LLC, staff are revising the 2019 plan to better reflect our current organizational structure, resources and emergency response capabilities.
On the operational front, Fire Department staff have begun developing Geographic Information System (GIS) pre-incident planning maps to help firefighters respond more safely and efficiently to emergencies. These digital tools provide crews with critical visual information, such as building layouts, utility shutoffs, fire protection systems and potential hazards, before they even arrive on the scene.
The Fire Department is also thrilled to host the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 5, at Carl E. Hall Park (609 Pintail Dr). The event will feature four designated age groups (0–2, 3–5, 6–8 and 9+) and includes special golden eggs that can be redeemed for exciting prizes. The hunt begins promptly at 1 p.m., signaled by the fire department's siren. We look forward to seeing you there!

Police Department
This month, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the Suisun City Police Department’s 2024 Public Safety Dispatch Team, which was recently honored by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2333 and District 16 as the "Dispatch Team of the Year." We extend our deepest congratulations to Dispatchers Haley Alexander, Anne Sagami, Tiffany Lombard, Kara Robinson and Police Support Services Manager Amber Kent for their extraordinary dedication and commitment to public safety.
This prestigious recognition is well-deserved, as this small but mighty team kept our community's lifeline to emergency services running seamlessly throughout 2024. This team exemplified the very best of public service and kept Suisun City safe around the clock.

Recreation, Parks and Marina Department
The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is incredibly proud to announce it has won the prestigious California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) Award of Excellence for its “Adaptive Programming for Intellectually and/or Developmentally Disabled Youth.” Stemming from the personal advocacy of Senior Management Analyst Marvin Mora to create local, inclusive recreation options for his son, this initiative has blossomed into programs like Club Chaos and the Autism Acceptance Fun Run. The award will be officially presented at the April 7 City Council meeting.
Last month, the community officially celebrated the grand opening of Prosperity Park with a wonderful ribbon-cutting ceremony. Residents interested in renting a garden plot at the new Prosperity Community Garden, opening April 29, can submit an interest form. Additionally, the new playground at Goepp Park is nearing completion, and the Heritage Park mini-pitch and pavilion project remains on track for an April finish.
Down at the Marina, boaters will be happy to hear that the diesel fuel line is fully repaired and operational just in time for the upcoming season.
The Police Activities League (PAL) and After School Programs hosted action-packed Presidents’ Week camps featuring cooking classes, magic shows and mobile gaming trucks. Meanwhile, our youngest residents in the Preschool program celebrated Black History Month and Valentine's Day with special crafts, and our seniors enjoyed an incredibly successful Valentine’s Brunch with over 130 attendees!
Lastly, the department would like to remind community members that registration for the Infinity Fun Run is open. The 5K and 1-mile event will take place on April 18 at Rush Ranch Open Space, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month. Spots are limited, so remember to sign up for the Youth and/or Adult programs.
