Hello, Suisun City!
For the January edition of the Suisun City Scoop, we are thrilled to invite you to Illuminating Suisun City, a special event taking place this Saturday, Jan. 24 from 5–7 p.m.
Join us as the City lights 37 trees along the waterfront and in Harbor Plaza, accompanied by festivities featuring food trucks and live music beginning at 5 p.m. The lighting ceremony will take place from 6–7 p.m., marking the launch of a permanent installation of illuminated trees, generously provided to the City by California Forever as part of a Downtown Revitalization Grant.
Contributing to the beautification of Suisun City is a top priority. These stunning new lights showcase the pride and spirit of our residents, revitalizing the heart of the city. We are excited to celebrate local businesses, culture and cuisine as we mark this milestone investment. Residents are invited to enjoy food, entertainment and the vibrant waterfront atmosphere, with the official lighting taking place on the Harbor Plaza stage.

Fire Department
The Suisun City Fire Department embraced the spirit of the season by supporting local families through its annual Toys 4 Kids program. In preparation, the department hosted its Fill the Engine event on Dec. 5, collecting new, unwrapped toys for local children.
Held on Dec. 17, the Toys 4 Kids event brought holiday cheer to 59 local families and 173 children — a testament to the program’s continued success. This was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of local residents and business partners.
The Department extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, volunteered and supported the program, helping to bring joy, hope and festive spirit to families across the community.

Public Works Department
This month, the Public Works Department made steady progress across Suisun City. Heritage Park improvements are moving forward, with the basketball court and mini-pitch completed, and full construction will resume once weather and delivery delays allow. Construction also resumed on Kellogg Street, focusing on stormwater infrastructure, sidewalks, curb ramps, paving, signage, landscaping and underground utilities. The Solid Waste RFP is nearly complete, with release planned for the week of Feb. 9.
To date, maintenance crews have responded to daily 811 marking requests, repaired street lights, maintained the sandbag station and installed new tree lights along the Waterfront, Solano Street and Waterfront Plaza. Staff also trimmed and cleaned Downtown and Heritage Park for the Christmas on the Waterfront event and completed citywide trash runs, addressing illegal dumping throughout the city. The Community Center Banquet Room floor replacement contract was awarded, with work set to begin in early March.

Recreation, Parks and Marina Department
Last month, the Recreation, Parks and Marina Department hosted a variety of community programs and events. The Marina successfully held its annual Lighted Boat Parade during Christmas on the Waterfront, featuring nine participating boats and awarding winners in both small and large boat categories. Additionally, the Menorah Lighting offered connection, entertainment and refreshments and the Kwanzaa celebration, hosted with the Youth Commission, highlighted Suisun’s youth exemplifying the seven principles of Nguzo Saba.
Youth programs kept children engaged throughout the month, with the Police Activities League offering cooking, coding, photography, science and drone soccer classes. The After School Programs at Crescent and Dan O. Root Elementary Schools hosted holiday-themed activities for over 250 children, and preschoolers celebrated with crafts, Spirit Week and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Seniors enjoyed a festive month with the annual Senior Holiday Luncheon, featuring music, dancing, raffle prizes and a special donation from Potrero Hills Landfill. This month, staff professional development continued, including training in leadership development and playground safety, to ensure programs remain safe and enriching for the community.
Registration for the Infinity Fun Run opens Jan. 26, with the 5K and 1-mile event taking place April 18 at Rush Ranch Open Space, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month.
