Suisun City is excited to highlight some great news from the Finance Department for this August edition of the Suisun City Scoop.
The City has received its first payment from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for reimbursement of COVID-19 emergency protective measure costs in the amount of $54,464.15 from FEMA’s Public Assistance program.
Suisun’s Finance Department facilitated a robust process to compile all necessary documentation and ensured compliance with federal requirements for reimbursement.
The City is especially thankful to Director Lakhwinder Deol and Finance Manager Elizabeth Luna for their contributions to this effort.

New Website Connects Solano Residents to Aging and Disability Support
A new online resource for the Napa/Solano Area Agency on Aging is making it easy for Solano’s older and disabled adults and their caregivers to connect to local support. The site offers user-friendly directories of free local services, from healthcare counseling and transportation to caregiver respite and legal advice. It also features downloadable resource guides in English and Spanish, plus direct connections to staff for personalized support.
With Solano County’s older adult population growing rapidly, access to trusted, easy-to-use information is more important than ever. Visit www.aaans.org to explore the full range of services available.

Development Services
New residential and commercial development projects are in progress in Suisun City this August!
At the Aug. 19 meeting, City Council discussed a proposed revitalization project for a 20-unit market-rate multifamily development at a long-vacant downtown lot at 400 Main St. This development could kick-start new infill residential growth in the downtown core, the first in over a decade.
The Aug. 26 Planning Commission meeting will discuss the proposed development of 31 multi-family units and two commercial spaces at the Canlas McCoy Creek Apartments located at 1220 and 1240 McCoy Creek Way.
The City is also working with a popular coffee franchise to add a location near the Sunset Shopping Center.

Fire Department
The Suisun City Fire Department invites you to join the Emergency Preparedness Fair and Open House at the Kroc Center (586 E Wigeon Way) on Oct. 4. The free, family-friendly event is designed to help the community learn how to prepare, respond and stay safe during emergencies. Partner agencies will include:

Suisun City Police Department
At the Aug. 6 City Council meeting, Chief Roth was pleased to hold an oath of office ceremony celebrating seven staff members from the Suisun City Police Department as they took their oath of office in front of the council and community. Several of these employees have been serving our community for quite some time, diligently supporting our residents and visitors. Join Suisun in congratulating these members of our public safety team on their initiation and in recognition of their service!

Public Works Department
Public Works is making progress on the 2025 Pavement Resurfacing Project this month. On Saturday, Aug. 2, Blossom Avenue from Pintail Drive to Chyrl Way was resurfaced, along with patchwork extending to Amber Drive and upgrades to the four curb ramps at the Blossom Avenue/Canvasback Drive intersection to make them ADA-compliant.
As part of the larger Blossom Avenue Rehabilitation Project, a northern portion of Worley Road underwent pavement resurfacing treatment between Railroad Avenue and Phillip Way on Aug. 16.
The HSIP Cycle 11 grant-funded T-Intersection Median Safety Improvements Project is also currently out to bid. The project’s primary focus is the installation of raised medians on Railroad Avenue at Village Drive and Walters Road at McClellan Drive.

Recreation, Parks and Marina Department
Throughout the summer, the RPM Department hosted the Dinner & Movies in the Park series, Music on the Waterfront and Sunday Jazz on the Waterfront Concert series. Approximately 100-200 people came together to enjoy music and dancing at each concert. Thank you to all who participated as attendees, performers and vendors! Dinner & Movies in the Park continues on Sept. 19 with a screening of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
July wrapped up with approximately 150 seniors attending the Hawaiian-themed Summer Dinner Dance on Jul. 31. We would like to thank Ohana Hawaiian BBQ Suisun City for catering delicious food, as well as the excellent DJs from GSNYDER & CO.
Aug. 1 marked the final game of the Jr. Giants’ free summer baseball league season, but the fun continued with a field and water day at the Lambrecht Sports Complex on Aug. 8, organized by Recreation Coordinator Fernando Pantoja.
