Dear Suisun City Community,
As we embark on a new year, I am pleased to share significant developments that will shape the future of our city.
Passage of Measure S
In November 2024, our community overwhelmingly approved Measure S, the local sales tax at a rate of 1.75% for 15 years. This measure is crucial for maintaining essential services, including addressing crime and public nuisances associated with homelessness, preventing the elimination of neighborhood police patrols, maintaining local fire protection and improving 9-1-1 emergency response times. From our resiliency plan, you know this is only one leg of the solution, as taxes alone will not be able to sustain us forever — thus the economic development plan.
Economic Strategy and Implementation Plan
We are developing an Economic Development Strategy and Implementation Plan to attract new businesses, strengthen existing ones, and foster sustainable housing growth. This plan will be presented to the City Council on March 4, 2025, outlining our economic vision and the path forward for Suisun City.
Strategic Planning Completion
Our strategic planning efforts are nearing completion, with the final plan scheduled for adoption in March 2025. This plan will serve as a roadmap for Suisun City’s growth, balancing immediate needs with long-term aspirations. We are committed to transparency and will establish clear reporting expectations to keep the community informed of our progress.
Acknowledging Staff Achievements
I want to recognize the outstanding work of our city staff. Their dedication has initiated positive changes in both our internal culture and external outcomes. Notably:

Public Safety Departments: Our Police and Fire Departments have worked tirelessly to enhance community safety, addressing increased emergency response demands and implementing effective crime prevention strategies even in the light of staffing shortages.

Public Works Innovation: The Illegal Dumping Team has made significant strides in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of our city, reflecting our commitment to a healthy and attractive environment.
