Exciting changes are in effect for the June 5 Primary Election

Dear Voter, 

Big changes are in effect for elections in the counties of Madera, Napa, Nevada, Sacramento and San Mateo thanks to the California Voter’s Choice Act. For the June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary, you'll have more flexibility and voting options -- you can choose when, where and how you cast your ballot.     Check your mailbox! All registered voters will receive their ballot in the mail. Ballots will be mailed out starting Monday, May 7. Most polling places will no longer be used for voting. Instead, voters will have three choices for how to vote:

    By Mail

    You can mail your ballot as soon as you receive it.

    Ballot Drop Boxes

    You can drop off your ballot at any secure Ballot Drop Boxes in your county. Drop Boxes will be open May 8 and located conveniently throughout your county. No postage is required at Ballot Drop Boxes.

    Vote Center

    You can still vote in person by visiting any Vote Center in your county. All Vote Centers will be open for at least 4 days: Saturday, June 2 through Election Day on Tuesday June 5. Some Vote Centers will be open for 11 days starting Saturday, May 26. For the hours and location of your nearest Vote Center, visit VoterStatus.sos.ca.gov.

    At every Vote Center you can:

    • Vote in person.
    • Register and vote the same day, all the way through Election Day
    • Drop off your completed ballot.
    • Vote with an accessible voting machine.
    • Get help and voting materials in multiple languages.
