SMCYC Annual Retreat

The Youth Commission started off it's year with their annual two day retreat at Captain's House in Coyote Point Park. The two days were a mix of bonding activities and learning about their roles and responsibilities as Commissioners. The retreat included a training from County Counsel on the Brown Act, a brainstorming session for the 2014 Youth Conference and a mock public meeting.

Board and Commission Mixer

The Youth Commission will be hosting a Board and Commission Mixer where they will be able to gain exposure to all their potential placements. This will also be a time where they will be placed on their committees for the year. The Mixer will be on August 19th, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Redwood City Library's Community Room.

Youth Voice! Maxwell Weinstein is a Junior at Mills High School and will be serving his second term with the Youth Commission. He also serves as the Chair of the Adolescent Needs Committee.   "My time with the Youth Commission has been exciting and enlightening working with some of the county's most outstanding youth, as well as crucial in the development of my character."

New Program Coordinator The Youth Commission would like to introduce Brook Costello as the new Program Coordinator for the Youth Commission. She was promoted from Assistant to Program Coordinator in June 2013. She is very excited and honored to continue her work with the SMC Youth Commission.
