Dear Friends,
We need volunteers for the 2026 One Day Homeless Count on January 29th, especially in South San Francisco, San Bruno, Brisbane, Daly City and Colma. This is a meaningful way to get involved in our County’s homelessness response system.
The County is required by federal law to conduct a Point-in-Time Count of the unsheltered homeless population every other year. The collected data supports local planning, informs grant funding and strengthens programs that help people secure permanent housing. The more accurate the data we collect is, the more likely it is for our county to receive its fair share of federal funding.
It’s easy for you to participate. On the morning of January 29th, volunteers will be deployed across the County to conduct an observational count of unsheltered individuals. Volunteers will navigate their assigned census tract and record observations using our mobile application. A strong volunteer base helps ensure complete and accurate coverage.
This important volunteer activity will require a total time commitment of 5-6 hours, including an online training and the homeless count participation. You can register at 2026 One Day Count General Volunteer Registration Form.
Thank you for doing your part in assisting our unsheltered neighbors receive services and get inside.
All the best,
Jackie
