County Supervisors Reaffirm Commitment to Immigrants
San Mateo County Supervisors Noelia Corzo and Ray Mueller joined community and faith leaders today at a news conference to reaffirm the County’s commitment to protecting immigrant residents. They encouraged residents to verify information and to call the Rapid Response Hotline at (203) 666-4472 if they witness immigration activity. The supervisors emphasized that all County services remain available regardless of immigration status and reaffirmed the County’s dedication to dignity, safety and unity for all residents.

County Warns Fed Shutdown Threatens Food Assistance
San Mateo County supervisors joined the County's Human Services Agency and nonprofit leaders at a news conference this week to warn that a federal government shutdown could cut off food assistance for thousands of families. Nearly 35,000 residents who rely on CalFresh may lose benefits as soon as next month. The Board approved nearly $900,000 to strengthen the local safety net and help Core Services Agencies distribute food. Officials urged residents to stay informed and support local food banks to ensure no one in the community goes hungry.

County Parks, Partners to Host Huddart Park Event
San Mateo County Parks, Peninsula Open Space Trust and the Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks will host a family-friendly morning with hikes for all ages, hands-on learning experiences and art activities on Sat., Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Huddart Park. The park is 3.5 miles west of Highway 84 and features barbecue pits, a playground, grassy meadows, and hiking and riding trails. The free event includes nature scavenger hunts, story time readings, animal pelts and skulls, live reptile interactions, and information from San Mateo County Health & Libraries. Office of Community Affairs Hosts 3rd Annual Unity Walk
Today, the County’s Office of Community Affairs, in partnership with Redwood City Together, held the 3rd Annual Unity Walk. The walk, a 0.7-mile route from County Center to Redwood City Hall, celebrates community, connection and standing united against hate. At its Oct. 21 meeting, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors proclaimed October 19–25, 2025, as United Against Hate Week, affirming the County’s commitment to dignity, inclusion and solidarity against all forms of hate.

Sheriff's Office Provides Tips for Teen Driver Safety Week
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is marking National Teen Driver Safety Week (Oct. 19–25) by reminding parents, caregivers, and teens to make safe driving a year-round priority. Deputies encourage families to learn about California’s provisional driver’s license rules, model safe driving habits, set clear ground rules—such as no phone use and always buckling up—and stress the importance of never driving under the influence. Together, these steps can help keep young drivers and everyone on the road safe.
