Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The LGBTQIA+ community often faces higher rates of mental health challenges due to stigma and discrimination.

This month, we honor the resilience that carries us through hard times and encourage everyone to practice self‑care, reach out when you need support, and lift each other up. Lastly, we want to remind everyone of the resources available to the community.

Legislative Spotlight: SB-59

This month, the San Mateo LGBTQIA+ Commission recommended to the San Mateo County Supervisors on sending a letter of support for SB-59 which has been successfully created and submitted. Senate Bill 59, authored by Senator Scott Wiener, would keep all petitions and court records for changing a person’s gender, sex identifier, or name confidential, helping protect the privacy and safety of transgender and non‑binary Californians and safeguarding their rights. We're proud to stand behind this vital proposed legislation.

San Mateo County Pride Celebration

San Mateo County's 13th Annual Pride Celebration champions inclusion and wellness for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies in our county. The celebration will include live entertainment, a live DJ, resource and vendor booths, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and more.

Save the date: Saturday, June 14, 2025, at San Mateo Central Park from 11 am-5 pm. The Pride Parade starts at 10:30 am and ends at Central Park. Free Entry and Sober Event.
