County Highlights National Preparedness Month
The County’s Department of Emergency Management (DEM) is encouraging families to take steps to prepare for disasters and emergencies for National Preparedness Month. San Mateo County residents can take steps to prepare by registering for SMC Alerts, a warning system that contacts you when an emergency strikes, and knowing your zone, which helps with identifying evacuation zones and local dangers in your community. Other disaster preparedness steps include outlining a safety plan, making a go-bag and creating disaster supplies kits for service animals and pets.
