County of San Mateo Board Meeting Update: March 26, 2024

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors met in-person with remote public participation available via Zoom on March 26, 2024. Below are the results of selected items on the agenda:

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

  • Adopt a resolution opposing the application submitted by Pacific Bell Company d/b/a AT&T California (AT&T) to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to be relieved of its Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) obligation.

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 4, for more information.

  • Adopt a resolution urging Social Media Platforms, including on Meta, Facebook, X,
    Instagram, and TikTok, to enforce their community standards and guidelines to prevent
    and eliminate content promoting guns, violence, racism, hate, or any other content that
    violates the community standards and guidelines.

The Board of Supervisors voted 4-0-1 to adopt the resolution. Supervisor Corzo abstained in this vote. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 5, for more information.

PLANNING AND BUILDING

  • Conduct a public hearing to consider a General Plan Land Use Map Amendment, Coastal Development Permit, Design Review Permit, and Grading Permit, County File Number PLN 2022-00220, to construct the Cypress Point Planned Unit Development in the unincorporated Moss Beach area:
  • A) Open public hearing
  • B) Close public hearing
  • C) Adopt a resolution amending the San Mateo County General Plan Land Use Map to change the land use designation of APN 037-022-070 from Medium-High Density Residential to Medium Density Residential; and
  • D) Approve the Coastal Development Permit, Design Review Permit, and Grading Permit by making the required findings and adopting the conditions of approval  contained in Attachment A. 

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution and approve the permits. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 7, for more information.

  • Review the status of the County’s response to the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s comments on the County’s 2023-2031 Draft Housing Element Update.

The Board of Supervisors listened to the report from staff. See Regular Agenda, Item No. 8, for more information.

COUNTY EXECUTIVE

  • Adopt a resolution:
  • A) Approving recommendations for Measure K expenditures for planning purposes in preparation for the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Recommended Budget, including allocations in the amount of $15,000,000 for services and programs within the Housing and Homelessness priority area, $3,500,000 for programs and services within in the Emergency Preparedness priority area and $16,000,000 for programs and services in the Children, Family and Seniors priority area, and $75,500,000 in ongoing services and programs, as set forth in Attachment A; and
  • B) Approving recommendations for proposed programs and services pursuant to the FY 2024-25 Measure Notice of Funding Opportunity as set forth in Attachment B-D and authorizing the County Executive or designee to negotiate agreements with recommended applicants, and/or conduct further solicitations, as necessary and advisable within the discretion of the County Executive, to be returned to the Board for approval.
