Redwood City —The County of San Mateo announced today that Aimee Shapiro will serve as the executive director of the San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture.

Shapiro, raised amid New York City’s wealth of museums and cultural events, comes to the County from the Anderson Collection, Stanford University's free museum of modern and contemporary American art. She served as director of programming and engagement, working with artists, performers, students and the local community.

Now she brings her energy and enthusiasm for the creative arts to the County, where she will play a central role in shaping the San Mateo County Arts Commission’s strategic plan.
