CalAIM Myth Busting

no wrong door mythbusting

*Fee-for-Service (FFS): A significant proportion of total Medi-Cal expenditures is generated through the Fee-for-Service (FFS) health care delivery system. FFS providers render services and then submit claims for payment that are adjudicated, processed, and paid (or denied) by the Medi-Cal program’s fiscal intermediary (DHCS).

Managed care plan (MCP): Medi-Cal Managed Care contracts for health care services through established networks of organized systems of care, which emphasize primary and preventive care.  Managed care plans are a cost-effective use of health care resources that improve health care access and assure quality of care (DHCS).

What is BHRS doing to support CalAIM Implementation?

Learn about three ongoing efforts below:

1. The Screening and Transition Tool Design Team: The Design Team is working on the work-flow for the Screening Tool now, afterwards they will be working on the Transition Tool. Their goal is to establish standard workflows and clear guidance for use that will apply throughout BHRS.

2. CalAIM Workgroup: The CalAIM Workgroup serves to resolve issues around the CalAIM implementation within Avatar NX. They just added new members - many direct service and administrative staff - and are going strong after their first 2024 meeting of the year on 1/9.

3. CalAIM Steering Committee: The overarching guide of CalAIM. The intent of this committee is to utilize project management tools and theories to ensure timely implementation of the CalAIM initiatives. They had our first meeting on December 21st and are on their way!
