National Disability Employment Month

Happy October, JFY Community!

This month, we continue to celebrate National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, and begin observing many other celebrations such as LGBTQ+ History Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Filipino American History Month, and National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

At Jobs for Youth, we believe in striving for inclusivity everywhere, and that everyone deserves equitable opportunity to employment, which is why we want to highlight NDEAM. People with disabilities have faced a tremendous amount of employment discrimination, which National Disability employment Awareness Month aims to raise awareness for, and to celebrate the many contributions folks with disabilities have made to society.

Please read our blog post linked here to learn a bit more about NDEAM, and how Jobs for Youth is striving for more equity in our daily work!

If you are interested in learning about ways you can get involved in advocacy for people with disabilities within San Mateo County, please be sure to visit the County of San Mateo's Commission on Disabilities webpage!
