What would you do with a $2,000 scholarship for higher education? The Al Teglia Scholarship program can help you on your journey toward earning an Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or vocational training certificate. At Jobs for Youth, we know that higher education looks different to everyone, and we want to help you achieve your goals. The deadline to submit your application is January 30, 2022. We are officially into the new year! With this fresh start, we invite you all to think about the above statement. What do you want to accomplish in 2022? Is it finishing your senior year of high school or maybe starting a new hobby?  Whatever your goals look like, how are you going to accomplish them? Take this moment to pause and set the intention to commit to yourself this year. 


Youth Who Are Making the World a Better Place: Bay Area Native Isha Clarke

Isha Clarke

18 year old Isha Clarke (they/them) has been paving the way for regional youth in the battle for environmental justice! Born, raised, and educated in Oakland (occupied Ohlone Territory) Isha is an award winning activitst and Co-Founder of the climate justice movement "Youth Vs Apocalypse." Youth Vs. Apocalypse is a diverse group of young climate justice activists working together to lift the voices of youth, in particular youth of color and working class youth. Their collective action aims to fight for a livable climate and an equitable, sustainable, and just world. The foundation of Isha's activism is rooted in both their family's history of activism and community's rich history of resistance and social justice. To learn more about Isha's impact, please visit the sites below:

COMMUNITY EVENTS

All ages are welcome to spend a beautiful January morning exploring the wonderful world of water. Gamble’s first Second Saturday event of 2022 focuses on the watershed garden and how it improves the health of local water, soil, air, wildlife, our families and communities. Join the fun on January 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Registration is free. 

Make a difference with San Mateo County Parks stewardship volunteers. Volunteers and park staff work together at different locations each week to restore native habitat and beautify the San Mateo County Parks. Come explore the County Parks while lending a hand with invasive plant removal, planting native plants, and seed collection. Join the first session on Saturday January 22, 2022  from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Registration is free.
