Hi Jobs for Youth Members,
In this month's newsletter, we are thrilled to announce an exciting free event that we'll be hosting next week called "Equity in Higher Education: The Bay Area and Beyond." If you are in college, plan on attending college, or just have questions about equity in college, we highly recommend that you attend!
Your free ticket includes a link to watch a movie called Unlikely about what makes finishing college so hard--plus the movie explores some really cool programs that can make college easier. Some programs in this movie might even be helpful for you! Your ticket also includes access to a panel conversation on equity in college. Speakers will include representatives from Students Rising Above, the San Mateo County Community Colleges Promise Scholarship, local community colleges, the director of Unlikely, and one of the students in Unlikely (who overcame hardships in college and has gone on to do some really inspiring things in his career).
Everyone who attends will get a list of resources that will help you get into college, succeed in college, and get money for college.
To get your free ticket from us, go to https://tinyurl.com/unlikelyfilm, click the green "Tickets" button, and select "STUDENTS IN SMC ONLY: Free Access to Film + Panel."
If you need help getting your free ticket, email us at jobsforyouth@smcgov.org.
As usual, we also have jobs, education opportunities, and other community events in this newsletter. Included in our jobs list this month is an opportunity to work with Jobs for Youth! Plus, the San Mateo County Libraries is looking for up to 20 more paid interns for their summer literacy camps for youth.
Keep scrolling for more! And, as always, feel free to email us at jobsforyouth@smcgov.org if you have any questions at all.
In solidarity, Jobs for Youth
