The first and arguably most important step is to learn how to recognize stress. Sometimes we know it immediately: our minds race, our bodies tense up, and it takes all our energy to keep from screaming in frustration. But a lot of the time the signs are easier to miss. It is safest to participate in a virtual opportunity that you can do from home whenever possible. If you take an in-person opportunity, make sure that the organization has strong health and safety practices, wear a mask at all times, remember to keep 6 feet of distance from others at all times, wash your hands regularly, and do not touch your face.
