Big Lift Inspiring Summers Learning Intern

SAN MATEO COUNTY LIBRARIES (South San Francisco, Daly City, Half Moon Bay, Pescadero, Redwood City, San Bruno): This summer, spend your days helping young children learn to read! The San Mateo County Library is looking for people who are passionate about education, children, and summer camps to run this year's Big Lift Summer Learning Camps. Epidemiologists


What do they do?:
 Epidemiologists study how diseases, disabilities, and other health outcomes spread in society. They use their knowledge of biology, medicine, and research to help the public learn more about specific illnesses. They may also develop ways to prevent or control the spread of disease.

What education do they have?: Epidemiologists n California typically have a doctoral or professional degree (50%). About one fourth of epidemiologists have a Master's degree (24%) and another fourth have a Bachelor's degree (24%). A small percentage of epidemiologists have an Associate's degree (1%).

How much do they make?: Epidemiologists in California typically make between $55,390 and $127,020 per year.

Will there be jobs in this field in the future?: Yes. This career is expected to grow by 5% in the US over the next 10 years. Learn about future job openings and other information.

The Sustainability Academy’s Fundamentals of Climate Change & Natural Resources in San Mateo County is a free 9-week course that will cover energy, waste, water, and transportation issues in San Mateo County, including the social context of these issues.

This is a great opportunity to interact with your community, learn more about the social context of environmental challenges in San Mateo County, and connect with local resource conservation organizations where you can do meaningful volunteer work related to the topics we cover in class.

We’re super excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and have big plans in the works to make this Earth Day one you won’t forget!

Join us in celebrating our planet with food, drinks, and new and old friends. If you’re interested in learning more about what we have planned for Earth Month, we encourage you to attend as we will be revealing events, opportunities to get involved, and awesome Earth Day prizes (and how you can win them). Open to the entire community and all ages are welcome.
