San Mateo County Celebrates Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 17

San Mateo County’s Transgender Day of Remembrance raises awareness of the threat of abuse and violence faced by members of the transgender community. It is also a time to gather together to remember those who have lost their lives to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. While not every person represented during the Day of Remembrance self-identified as transgender — each was a victim of violence based on bias against transgender people.

Join the San Mateo County LGBTQ community at the Congregational Church of San Mateo, 225 Tilton Avenue, Kloss Hall in San Mateo on Thursday, November 17th, 2016 from 4-6pm. San Mateo County Supervisor Carole Groom will provide welcoming remarks to the community. Adrian Acencion Martinez, Community Organizer with the Transgender Law Center, will keynote the event.
