SDAPCD Governing Board Approves 2025 Air Quality Annual Report
The 2025 Annual Air Quality Report was approved by SDAPCD's Governing Board on June 11, 2026. The report features our initiatives towards working to achieve our vision of Clean Air For All.
Some key highlights in the report include:
- Funded new zero-emission electric buses to replace 22 diesel-powered school buses for the San Marcos Unified School District.
- Distributed over 11,000 air purifiers in 2025 to San Diego County households in communities affected by the Tijuana River Valley crisis.
- Conducted 16,000 air inspections and collected $1.2 million in monetary penalties from violations.
- Launched a zero-emission microtransit shuttle in Mt. Hope community to access destinations across Southeastern San Diego.
The report is available in other languages including Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Tagalog, and Arabic.
SDAPCD Governing Board Adopts Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget
The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District’s (SDAPCD) Governing Board adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Recommended Budget on Thursday, June 11, 2026, which will cover operations starting July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The recommended budget is balanced and reflects a proposed total of $135.1 million in revenues and expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year.
With the new budget, SDAPCD will continue to invest in projects that work to improve air quality for local communities, adopt cleaner mobile equipment and infrastructure, and further promote our vision of Clean Air for All across San Diego County.
SDAPCD Releases the 2025 California Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Annual Report
The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District has released the 2025 California Air Toxics “Hot Spots” Annual Report, highlighting SDAPCD’s efforts to evaluate and reduce health risk from toxic emission sources across San Diego County.
The report features key program activities, including:
- Emissions Inventory of toxic air contaminants from operational facilities
- Health Risk Prioritization of air toxic emission scores
- Health Risk Assessments of adverse effects from toxic emissions
- Public Notifications of possible health risks from exposure to toxic air contaminants
The “Hot Spots” program monitors a wide range of small and large industrial sources in the region and evaluates the levels of emissions from these sources to assess the risk to public health.

SDAPCD Walks in Support of Lung Health
The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District walked in support of lung health at the American Lung Association’s (ALA) Annual Lung Force Walk at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. The ALA hosts the walk every year and works to bring awareness to lung health by sharing the importance of clean air for communities, aligning with our vision of Clean Air For All. SDAPCD's participation in the Lung Force Walk continues to show our commitment to supporting community partners and advancing shared efforts to promote cleaner air for San Diego County residents.
SDAPCD Attends IEA Conference
SDAPCD staff attended the 43rd Industrial Environmental Association (IEA) Conference where they shared program developments and rule updates with conference attendees. The IEA conference is held annually for professionals within the environmental, health, and safety industry and serves to inform others of ongoing efforts and activities. It is an opportunity for SDAPCD to inform industry partners of the latest air quality rules and regulations that are working to improve air quality in San Diego County.
SDAPCD Recognized by San Diego Section of the American Planning Association
SDAPCD was honored with two awards from the San Diego Section of the American Planning Association! SDAPCD received the 2026 Implementation Award– Large Jurisdiction Award of Excellence and the 2026 Communications Initiative and Outreach Award of Excellence for the work and community outreach done within AB617 communities impacted by air pollution in San Diego County.
