Aggressive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were found in different parts of Santa Clara County this year. This mosquito can spread diseases like yellow fever, Zika, and dengue, which harm your health. Controlling mosquitoes is something everyone needs to do together.
You can help protect your community from these aggressive mosquitoes:
Report daytime mosquito bites. Report online, by calling (408) 918-4770 or emailing vectorinfo@cep.sccgov.org.
Dump and clean items that collect water. Dump and drain standing water around your home at least once a week. Scrub with hot soapy water or undiluted household bleach. Then place upside down in the sun for 24 hours. Items that collect water are places that mosquitoes lay their eggs. Do not rinse until ready to use the item again.
Let workers access your property. If requested, let County workers do the important job of checking areas where mosquitoes can lay their eggs.
Commemorate the 36th World AIDS Day at a Flag Raising Ceremony on December 4, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.at James P. McEntee Plaza, 70 West Hedding Street in San José. This year's theme is "Collective Action: Sustain and Accelerate HIV Progress." This event is free and open to everyone.
