Dear Neighbors,
It’s time to get vaccinated. Everyone 6 months and older should get both the COVID shot and this year’s flu shot to protect themselves and others.
- Are you healthy and strong? You need the updated shots.
- Have you had previous COVID or flu shots? You need the updated shots.
The options for getting the COVID shots have changed, but you don’t need to spend a bundle. With health insurance, you can access free or low-cost vaccinations. This includes the COVID shot, as well as other routine preventive care to support your long-term health and wellness.

Aedes aegypti mosquitoes have been found in East San Jose, Santa Clara, and Gilroy. This mosquito is of concern because it has the potential to spread diseases, like Zika, dengue, and yellow fever.
Residents throughout Santa Clara County should look around their property and dump out even the smallest amount of standing water. Cleaning and scrubbing bird baths, pet dishes and other containers is a good way to remove any lingering Aedes aegypti eggs, which are about half a millimeter in size and look to the naked eye like tiny bits of dirt.
Mosquito control is a community effort. Learn more how you can help contain the spread of this invasive mosquito.

Know someone who needs health insurance? With the expansion of Medi-Cal in California, health insurance is available to almost everyone. Joining Medi-Cal does not affect immigration status. Using Medi-Cal to see a doctor will not hurt a person’s chances of getting a green card or becoming a U.S. citizen. If you know someone who qualifies for Medi-Cal, encourage them to apply.
