 Summer is in full bloom, making it the perfect time to give your garden a boost with nutrient-rich compost! The City of Santa Clara is hosting a compost giveaway for residents on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 7:30 - 11 a.m. at the City’s Corporation Yard, 1700 Walsh Ave.
How to Participate:
- Bring a current utility bill and/or personal ID for verification.
- Bring your own sturdy containers (such as 5-gallon buckets or hard plastic totes).
- Limit: 40 gallons per household. Compost is available while supplies last.
Traffic Notice: Please access the Corporation Yard on Walsh Avenue from Lafayette Street. Both eastbound lanes on Walsh Avenue will be closed to traffic from Scott Boulevard. Questions? Contact Environmental Programs at environment@santaclaraca.gov or 408-615-3080.

Looking for after-school programs? The 2026/27 Resident Youth Card Membership is now available for purchase online and will be available for purchase in person at the Youth & Teen Center starting Aug. 10. Current 2025/2026 Resident Youth Card holders will be given a grace period to use their membership for the beginning of the 2026/27 school year.  The City of Santa Clara has launched a new Community Event Calendar on the City website. This interactive tool makes it easier to discover City events and stay connected. The current City calendar will remain available during the transition. More City events will be added gradually, with full implementation expected in late 2026.
