Shaping Tomorrow. Celebrating Today.
As we step into the heart of fall, I want to thank everyone who joined us at our Parade of Champions. What a fabulous celebration of our community spirit and pride here in Santa Clara. That same energy will carry us into the historic global events ahead, as we unveiled our new slogan and logo for the 2026 Super Bowl and World Cup, which will shine an international spotlight on our city. At the same time, our Economic Development Committee is hard at work planning community events that highlight Santa Clara’s growth and vibrancy, while partners like Sutter Health continue to rapidly expand their medical services to meet the needs of our residents. And most recently, I had the honor of delivering my State of the City address, where we celebrated our collective progress, honored District awardees, and recognized Daniel Woo as the Santa Claran of the Year for his extraordinary contributions. Together, these milestones reflect our city’s momentum, resilience, and promise for the future.

The 56th annual Parade of Champions was a wonderful reminder of why Santa Clara is such a special place. Families, friends, and neighbors came together to celebrate the achievements of our athletes, community leaders, and cultural groups. This years Grand Marshals were Ismael “Easy” Perez, a San Jose Earthquakes legend and President of the Santa Clara Rotary, and Robert “Bob” Buchser, representing the Buchser family’s incredible 104-year legacy in Santa Clara education. Thank you to our title sponsor, Sutter Health for supporting our event. And a big shout out to Ana Vargas-Smith, the parade Chair, her legion of volunteers, and everyone who participated. Your support made the event a truly memorable day for Santa Clara. For more information on the Parade of Champions visit scparadeofchampions.org.

Santa Clara will once again be at the center of the world stage as Levi’s Stadium hosts both Super Bowl 60 and FIFA World Cup in 2026. We recently unveiled our new slogan and logo, “Where the Mission Meets the Moment,” which captures the excitement and spirit of these historic events. These global games are more than sports; they are an opportunity to showcase Santa Clara’s hospitality, diversity, and innovation to millions of visitors and viewers around the world.

Through the Economic Development Committee that I chair, we are not only strengthening Santa Clara’s economy but also creating new opportunities to bring our community together. Planning is underway for special events that will connect residents and visitors with local businesses, cultural celebrations, and entertainment that reflect the unique character of our city. These efforts ensure that our economic growth is matched by a vibrant and welcoming community spirit. To join our efforts and receive more information, visit santaclaraca.gov/edmc.
Santa Clara is fortunate to be a growing hub for world-class medical services. Sutter Health is rapidly expanding its facilities and programs here in our city, ensuring that residents have greater access to the care they need close to home. This expansion represents a significant investment in Santa Clara’s future, creating not only better healthcare but also new jobs and opportunities for our community.
In my recent State of the City address, I reflected on the many ways Santa Clara is moving forward and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. One of the highlights of the evening was honoring Daniel Woo as Santa Claran of the year. His quiet leadership and tireless dedication to serving others exemplify the values that make our city strong. It was inspiring to celebrate his contributions alongside the progress we are making together as a community. Watch the State of the City to see all the District Honorees.
As we look forward toward the final months of the year, I encourage everyone to stay engaged, connected, and proud of all we are accomplishing together. Santa Clara is a city on the rise, guided by our history, fueled by our innovation, and united by the people who call it home. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we carry our mission forward into each new moment.
Serving Santa Clara proudly,
Mayor Lisa Gillmor
