Dear Santa Clara Residents,
As we step into the summer months, I wanted to take a moment to update you on the important developments, community initiatives, and upcoming events happening in our beautiful city. I am honored to serve as your Councilmember, working alongside all of you to make our city even better.
Honored to join Congressman Ro Khanna, Ellen Kamei, Mayor Mountain View and Foothill-De Anza district Chancellor Lee Lambert in recognizing the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, observed annually in May, AANHPI Heritage Month is a time to reflect upon and celebrate the remarkable role of the AANHPI community in our nation’s history. Happy to see many recognitions including Wesley Mukoyama from City of Santa Clara for all his volunteer services for the community. Encouraging words from Congressman Khanna to organize and protect our democratic rights.
Also celebrated May as Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month with local leaders in Mountain View on May 10th, 2025. Honorable Rob Bonta, Attorney General, California addressed the gathering, he spoke really well and laid down the path for the challenges being faced by citizens. Thanks to Attorney General Rob Bonta for being there.

The City of Santa Clara is pleased to announce that the Passero, a multi-family development located at 2230 Calle Del Mundo, will offer 48 below market-rate apartments for rent. These units will include a mix of 1 and 2-bedroom units, providing more affordable options for the community.
Applications for the virtual lottery must be submitted through June 5, 2025, online through the Passero webpage or the Doorway Housing Portal. The lottery will produce a ranked list that takes into account the City’s local preference policy, which will then be used as a waitlist. Applicants will be required to create an account before applying. The Virtual Lottery will be held on June 19, 2025.
 Friday, July 4 | 5-10 p.m. | Mission College, 3000 Mission College Blvd.
Join us for the ultimate 4th of July community celebration at Mission College. This family-friendly event has everything you need to celebrate America's Independence Day in style. Enjoy a fantastic lineup of food trucks offering a variety of delicious eats, from classic American fare to international delights. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a relaxing picnic with friends and family.
The Warburton Park Master Plan Update includes renovated picnic areas, site furniture such as benches, and access to ADA parking and pavement that meets current health and safety codes and best practices for public parks. Safety fencing will be installed along the street edge of the playground. To accommodate both people and pets, a hydration station will be added that features a drinking fountain, water bottle filler and pet bowl. Lighting will be upgraded to LED fixtures and shade will be provided through the addition of trees and canopies. Buffer planting is included along the pool deck edge and the property fencing along the adjacent homes. A looped walking trail is included to address the priority of increasing walking space. The remaining natural turf area is spacious enough to accommodate multi-use activities, such as Sunset Cinema and field games.
As we look toward the summer, there are plenty of exciting events planned for our community to come together and celebrate. I’m particularly excited about the Santa Clara Concerts in the Park Series beginning in June. These free concerts are a great way to spend time with family and friends, enjoying live music in the heart of our city.
As always, my commitment to transparency and open communication remains a priority. If you ever have questions, concerns, or just want to share feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to listen, advocate, and work with you to ensure Santa Clara is a place where everyone can thrive.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve as your Councilmember. Let’s continue working together to create a brighter future for Santa Clara!
Warm regards, Raj Chahal Councilmember, City of Santa Clara
