We all have a role to play in protecting our precious water resources, safeguarding public health and ensuring environmental sustainability. This Drinking Water Week, discover how your water is sourced, why infrastructure matters and how you can contribute to a sustainable water future.

Depending on your location in Santa Clara, you receive drinking water blended from three sources:

  • Groundwater wells within the City
  • The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta via Valley Water’s groundwater basins and treatment plants
  • The Tuolumne River via the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Hetch Hetchy system and treatment plants

Each week, staff samples water from 34 stations throughout the City, testing chlorine levels and checking for potential contaminants to ensure water quality and safety. All sources are held to the same standard. For more information, visit SantaClaraCA.gov/WaterandSewer.
