Remember Your Reusables
The holiday season is upon us and that means celebrating with family, friends, and food! While holiday gatherings create fun memories, they can also create extra waste. Follow these tips for planning an eco-friendly celebration this holiday season.
- Create a meal plan based on the number of people attending your celebration. Use the dinner party calculator at SaveTheFood.com to estimate how much food is needed based on the number of guests and the type of meal provided.
- Check the pantry, refrigerator, and freezer before grocery shopping to take inventory of what you have and what you need for your planned feast. Doing so prevents overbuying and food waste.
- Make a shopping list and only buy what is needed. Sticking to a list will keep you from overbuying and keeps you on budget!
- Use reusable glass and cloth items in your tablescape, which is both beautiful and keeps unnecessary items out of the landfill. Ditch the plastic utensils, cups, and paper napkins!
- Encourage your guests to bring their own reusable containers for those yummy leftovers.
