Hello library patrons and fans! We are excited to announce that the 2024 Santa Clara City Library Comic Con will be back in two short months! We have a lot of special guests in store for you all, but to help you get excited here is a sample of who we have coming to Comic Con on October 12!
Thien Pham is a graphic novelist, comic artist, and educator based in Oakland, CA. He is the author and illustrator of the graphic novel Sumo and did the art for the middle-grade graphic novel Level Up, written by Gene Luen Yang, and is an ongoing comic contributor to Eater SF. In 2024 he won an Eisner Award for his graphic memoir Family Style: Memories of an American from Vietnam. Currently Pham is working on his next graphic novel, teaching, and eating.
Briana Loewinsohn is a cartoonist living in Oakland, CA. She is a 2023 Foreword INDIE Editor's Choice Prize winner for her graphic memoir, Ephemera. She is working on her next graphic novel, Raised by Ghost, due in 2025. These days you can find her teaching high school art and drawing comic books. If she doesn’t text you back, she is probably gardening.
Lance Robertson is a Los Angeles-based musician, DJ, author, and actor also known as "DJ Lance Rock" on the award-winning Nick Jr show, Yo Gabba Gabba!. He has explored his interest in music (particularly electronic) through an internet radio show, club DJ gigs, and live concerts. As of late, he has turned his attention to donating his time to causes such as Make-A-Wish, along with organizations like Habitat For Humanity.
Francisco Jiménez emigrated from Tlaquepaque, Mexico, to California, where he worked for many years in the fields with his family. He received both his master’s degree and his Ph.D. from Columbia University and is now the chairman of the Modern Languages and Literature Department at Santa Clara University, the setting of much of his newest novel, Reaching Out. He is the Pura Belpre Honor winning author of The Circuit, Breaking Through, and La Mariposa. He is also the recipient of the John Steinbeck Award. He lives with his family in Santa Clara, California.
The 7th Santa Clara City Library Comic Con celebrates reading and imagination via the comic book medium by bringing together Bay Area artists, comic book shops, cosplayers, makers, and authors.
