City of Santa Clara and Bay Area Host Committee Selected to Host Super Bowl 2026

Super Bowl 60 Coming to the Bay Area!

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – On May 22, 2023, the National Football League (NFL) held an NFL Owners meeting where they selected the Bay Area and Levi’s Stadium in the City of Santa Clara as the next host for Super Bowl LX (Super Bowl 60) in 2026. 

Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium is a world class venue and an incredible asset for the region. Since Levi’s Stadium opened nearly 10 years ago, it has attracted major events such as Super Bowl 50 in 2016, the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship game and the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. The Stadium has also been key in attracting international talent for concerts and helping bring tourists back to the region after the pandemic. Over the years, Levi’s Stadium has continued to modernize and is a perfect venue for premier events like Super Bowl 60. 

Super Bowl 50 generated $250 million in economic impact for the region, creating thousands of jobs for local residents. Super Bowl 60 is a chance to build on that success and will be a boon for the Bay Area.  

“Our City has a proven track record with our successful Super Bowl 50 here in the City of Santa Clara. We are thrilled to have been selected to have Super Bowl LX,” said Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor. “Sports tourism supports our local restaurants, hotels, small businesses, and other industries. Major events like this help lift our local economy and boost revenue coming into our community. Residents should rest assured that we will continue to live up to Measure J and ensure that the City’s General Fund is not negatively impacted by these large events." 

Tourism is an essential part of the Bay Area’s COVID recovery process. Super Bowl LX will bring tens of thousands of visitors from around the country to our region which will make a huge difference to local establishments, many of whom are still recovering from COVID and trying to get back to 2019 levels. 

“The World Cup and the Super Bowl coming to our area in the same year, presents a once in a lifetime opportunity for our sports fans, businesses and communities” said Zaileen Janmohamed, President & CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee. “This is a sign that the Bay Area remains an incredible destination for world class events across sports and entertainment.”  

The City of Santa Clara will continue to work with the Bay Area Host Committee and partners across the region to deliver successful, safe, and memorable events. Securing the World Cup and the Super Bowl in 2026 is proof of that Santa Clara is an amazing community and a global destination for sports tourism - and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
