May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
During the month of May, we recognize the contributions of generations of Asians and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's past and continue to shape its future. Celebrate this month with one of our favorite activities—getting lost in a good book! We have book recommendations by Asian and Pacific Islander authors for all ages:

Santa Clara City Library Celebrates Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros!
The Santa Clara City Library hosted several events in April for Día, a celebration of children, families and reading that culminates each year on April 30. On April 19, our Youth Services library staff visited the Family Resource Center to re-connect with communities who do not often visit the library. About 85 families enjoyed the event, most of whom were Spanish speakers, and children created their own “paleta” (popsicle) out of paper. Our librarian Lorena read the little ones a story about the “Paletero Man” (pictured above), and families visited the Bookmobile to check out items and make new library cards.
Did you miss the fun? You're in luck! We have one more Día event in May: Visit us at the Northside Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6, for a special paleta storytime and craft!
Thank you to the Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends, the California State Library and the Southern California Library Cooperative for making these events possible.
