Measure L to Appear on the November Ballot

This summer, the Santa Rosa City Council voted unanimously (6-0) to place Measure L on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot. Measure L is the City of Santa Rosa’s Community Safety and Financial Stability Measure. If approved by voters, Measure L reauthorizes a previously voter approved sales tax at an updated one cent rate to maintain Santa Rosa’s quality of life and the City’s financial stability.

Due to budget shortfalls, the City has already made cuts to City services including fire, police, 911 response services, street maintenance, permit review and recreational programs. If enacted, Measure L helps prevent additional cuts and maintain services residents prioritize.

The placement of Measure L follows a year of community engagement where the community prioritized keeping all City fire stations open and operational; maintaining 911 and police response to violent crimes; preventing rotating fire station closures; addressing homeless encampments; fixing streets/potholes; and keeping public places safe and clean.

Measure L includes strict accountability rules and fiscal safeguards, requiring independent audits and public reports on how the money is spent, with every penny required to be used for the benefit of the Santa Rosa community.

Voters in Districts 2, 4, and 6 will also have the opportunity to select their City Council representatives.
