Voters to Decide on Community Safety/Financial Stability Measure This November

Santa Rosa voters will see the Community Safety/Financial Stability Measure on the November 2026 ballot. On July 28, the Santa Rosa City Council voted to place the measure before voters for consideration. If approved by voters, it would reauthorize the City’s existing half-cent Measure Q sales tax at an updated 1 cent rate until ended by voters to help maintain City services community members identified as priorities, such as 911 emergency medical and fire response, police response, especially response to violent crime, fixing streets and repairing potholes, and keeping public places safe and clean, among other services.

This general-purpose sales tax is estimated to generate $46 million annually to help fill critical funding gaps and maintain current service levels. Every penny must be used for Santa Rosa.

The City has already made significant cuts to fire, police, and 911 response services to address budget shortfalls. Without additional local funding, more service reductions are on the way. The measure includes strict accountability provisions and fiscal safeguards, requiring independent audits and public disclosure of all spending.

We will continue to provide educational information about this measure and how to participate in the November election.
